Too bad you weren't at the Grove today at 11:00 am! For five minutes, time stopped for (about) forty people.
Confused?
Good.
Ok, so this weekend I am the 'caretaker' for the three youngest Soelberg kids. Their mum told me about how this company asked people to help them with an advertising campaign and had gone to people helping with the Music Week play to ask if they would participate. Well! Because I am watching the 'kids,' I also got to know about it and participate!!
Here's what went down:
Saturday at 10:15 am we met downtown on the corner of 9th and Washinton. The people in charge tell us what's up, which is: at 11 by the fountain at the Grove, we will all FREEZE in whatever position we happen to be in, and we will hold that pose for FIVE minutes. YEAH!
You can see me!!!!!!

(Have you seen the video of this at Grand Central Station? If not, GO and watch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwMj3PJDxuo)
So we walk down, get there 15 minutes early, and it's at the Farmer's Market so it's CROWDED. Everyone spreads out, does whatever, and waits for the signal--the person in charge would cough really loud.
It was SO COOL!!! I've never done anything like it! I froze, and I had my bag open and I was looking at my phone, about to call someone. About three minutes in, my leg started to hurt really bad! It's hard to stay still for five minutes! But I did it, and I didn't laugh or break at all! Other people were IN the fountain, frozen in place while dancing to the live band's music, taking a picture, bending to tie a shoe, proposing to their fiancee... :D And the company was filming it all! There were two professional video cameras that I noticed and they were in everyone's face, including mine, and they will send us the video possibly as soon as tonight!
I heard people around me saying, "what is this...? Oh they're everywhere! Everyone's frozen! Are they mimes? WHat's going on??" It was AWESOME. People took pictures of us, tried to poke us (not me though, someone did pass really close, did a double take, so confused as to what was happening, LOL!), stopped and stared at us. SUPERFUN!
The five minutes timed out, the fountain went off as the signal, and everyone unfroze and went about their business! THe best part was how we got applause!! :D SO COOL.
I want to do it again! :D
And again, because I feel like putting this in here twice~
