Alright! So where did I leave off.....
On Friday we went to get cell phone plans all set up. It costed 10 yuan to get a SIM card. 10. That's like $1.50. Crazy!!! And then phone calls are like .02 yuan per minute. YEAH. crazy cheap!! I could've gotten an international plan that's also really cheap, but I figured scype will work just fine. WHICH WE HAVEN'T DONE YET....! bah! So we are all at China Mobile, seeing if our SIM cards will work in our US/Japanese/Egyptian phones, and nope..they don't. Except for the Egyptian one. So we're all sitting around wondering what to do, and this random guy (dont' know if he's from Disney, or just looking to make money) comes up and has a bag of cheapish phones for us to buy. Mia (our guide for the day) (who is Chinese), seemed to think it was alright, so we all got one. And they're cheapy and nokia, but they work.
Then we decide to go to CarrePour, which is the French equivalent of WalMart! It's huge! The second floor is devoted to housing stuff and electronics and just about anything you want, and the first floor just has FOOD. We didn't spend a whole lot of time there, so I need to go back (to return one of the adaptors I got because my straightener doesn't fit into it...), and also to explore more and maybe buy a scale. I don't want to gain weight!
Hmmmm what did we do after that...? Wow. honestly can't remember. .....OH! There's a little shopping strip close to the hotel and four of us went to check it out. There's a Subway, which is pretty similar to American ones. One girl got the meatball sub though, and she said it was nasty... I got a warm beef and cheese one, and it was delicious! They have a sweet onion sauce that was heavenly~ And I hadn't eaten since breakfast so I was starving..
So we stayed there and chatted for a bit and enjoyed the free WiFi, and then went across the strip to a gym. It was REALLY nice and had everything, even a pool, but it was super expensive... I think if a big group of us sign up, we could get it cheaper, but still... :b
There's also a little mostly-foreign food shop there. I got a couple drinks to try, and they were yummy. One was a milky yogurty thing, the other was a slightly carbonated milky thing. :) The other girls were SO EXCITED to find peanut butter! :)
Alright, I want to take these one day at a time, so I will be writing another blog for yesterday! woot!
Our hotel! :)

Yay! Looks like I get to be the first one to leave a comment on this one. Thanks for all the great details on your doins so far! I am totally amazed at how westernized Beijing appears to be! I had no idea you'd be staying in a 14-story hotel with all those other high-rise hotels and apartments all around. Amazing! Thanks for the cool video too!
Love,
Dad
