Alrighty, so I went to the Summer Palace yesterday! Started out horrible, but it was pretty nice once I got in. The walkways are all slabs of stone, and the go through the trees on the hill, and it's like a little hike up and around it. So it was nice to be in 'nature.' :) I took a lot of pictures, so I will show them when I get home, but here are some of the highlights:
There were a lot of these temples hidden in the pathways, they were pretty cool.
There was a pond with lots of these flowers, most were closed, but some, like this one, were open. Pretttyyy~
Another temple.. The names of them were kind of funny. For example: Tower of the Fragrance of Buddha..(what??), Garden of Harmonious Interests, Hall of Dispelling Clouds, Hall of Serenity, Hall of Magnanimity... Sheesh!
This is the Marble Boat, not actually made of marble. Well, now it's sitting on cement or whatever, but the queen or whoever decided she wanted a boat that looked like it was made of marble, so it was made of wood, and then painted white. haha weird queen. It's pretty though, there are stained glass windows and the woodwork is very intricate.
One of many paths.
A nice lake I stumbled upon. There was a guy fishing :)
A bridge!! I love bridges!
Closeup of one of the pillars on a bridge.
Aaaaan completely unrelated... The Silk market! This is only one little section of the bottom floor... But the stalls seem to go on forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is just one of many videos I took at the Summer Palace, and not one of the happier ones, but ...yeah.
