It was so pretty! And the priest selling the tickets tried to talk to me in English. awww~ He said he'd been learning for three months. :)
After the garden, I did a bit of shopping, then I decided to go on a boatride around the islands! I'd never done it before and I've always wanted to, and this was the perfect time. Soooo I paid the "big bucks" for the "first class" ticket, which was just the slightly nicer upper story of the boat and I had a really nice time!
A lot of the islands make appearances (or whatever) in poems that monks wrote a long time ago. There are 260 unique islands and it's so interesting! And on a couple of the islands, there are actually people living on them, and even a junior high school and an elementary school on one. whoa!
So yeah! It was nice to get out by myself and just go at my own pace. I'm actually looking forward to being Tokyo alone. Hopefully my dorm style room doesn't have weird people in it!

Great pictures, Julie. What a beautiful place. And you really appreciate its beauty.

Wow! You will miss the amazing beauty of Japan! I had no idea islands like that existed near you! I'm so happy you were able to buy that first class ticket and see it all! That looks just like a San Francisco Bay Cruise boat.
Soon you and Erica will have a fun adventure together! :-Dad
